The Thesaurus Maintenance Working Group focuses on the study and management of controlled vocabularies. Its focus is to propose a model that ensures the interoperability of thesauri used across scholarly communities; namely, the BackBone Thesaurus (BBT). BBT is a meta-thesaurus the scope of which ranges over various fields of the Humanities and Digital Humanities. The BBT enables cross-disciplinary resource discovery and ensures compatibility with thesauri that cover highly specific scientific domains and areas of knowledge in development. This open meeting organised by the Working Group in November 2021 reported on past and current outputs focusing on the experience of BBT users, outlining the challenges encountered in the curatorial process, designing solutions for new issues, and planning next steps.

The work-in-progress of the Thesaurus Maintenance Working Group was presented at the DARIAH Annual Event 2019, in Warsaw, on 15-17 May 2019. We presented the annual activities from the last annual event until this one, also presented the functionalities of BBTalk (Submission and Connection Management Tool), along with the progress made on BBT. BBT browser & federated thesaurus browser were discussed (see also https://www.dariah.eu/2019/01/21/dariah-annual-event-2019-humanities-data/).
Minutes DARIAH Annual Event 2018 at Paris (2018-05-21 to 2018-05-24)
The work-in-progress of the Thesaurus Maintenance Working Group was presented at the DARIAH Annual Event 2018, in Paris, on 22-24 May 2018. Our main focus was to present our experience in applying a local thesaurus to document curtural heritage and discuss tha dvantages of developing a federation of local thesauri (see also https://dariah2018.sciencesconf.org).

2nd meeting of Thesaurus Maintenance WG at Ljubljana, Slovenia (2015-04-22 to 2015-04-24)
The work-in-progress of the Thesaurus Maintenance Working Group was presented at the DARIAH-EU’s 5th General Virtual Competency Centre (VCC), Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 22-24 April 2015. The meeting took place at the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. A two-day workshop in Heraklio, Crete was also organized.
